Don't Cut Corners on the Job

Every day when you go to work as an IBEW member, we expect the best work and craftsmanship in the business. Over the last few decades, the IBEW and our employers have worked together to create procedures for getting the job done right and on time the first time, as well as doing it safely to ensure that all of our members get home to their families. Recently, we have had some issues with members feeling rushed through jobs and cutting corners. This is not acceptable. It doesn't help the Company when work is done wrong and it hurts our union's ability to bargain. When this happens it also makes it harder for us to defend you against disciplinary actions. Take the time to do the job right, the first time, follow all procedures and protocols, and everything else will fall into place.  If something goes wrong while you rush to complete a job or take a shortcut in a procedure, YOU will be the one to suffer.  Don't let it happen.

Here is what I ask of all Local 36 members: follow procedures and do your work up to the quality standards that are expected from IBEW members. In return, our Local will protect you and give you a good career and a good retirement.
