Your Executive Board continues to assess the prudence of resuming our monthly union meetings each month. We had hoped to resume in January, however with states of emergency declared in both Monroe and Wayne counties, that will not be happening just yet. The Board will review monthly and when it is determined to be appropriate to resume our meetings, we will put out a general communication notifying everyone of that and what safety requirements will be in place. We realize there are a lot of new members that have yet to be sworn in. Between now and when we do resume meeting and can swear you in, your rights as a Local 36 member are not limited in any way; we appreciate your patience as we navigate these extraordinary times.
Next spring will be a busy time, we will be conducting negotiations for our People Ready contract, ongoing negotiations for the Hydro Techs at RG&E to come on board, and will be conducting negotiations for the RG&E contract as well. In addition, elections for Local 36 officers will take place (nominations in May, election in June), and the IBEW International Convention will be held in May of next year. Through all this, the Executive Board continues to meet monthly, sometimes more often if required, to keep things running on track.
We are always here to answer questions and conduct whatever business needs attention regardless of the pandemic or anything else. As always, thanks for your dedication and support in these trying times.
With the holidays here, I would also like to take a minute and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope everyone enjoys some time with family and friends and I look forward to seeing everyone in 2021.
